I am originally from Los Alamos, born and raised. I have been crocheting for 20 years or better. I am New Mexico True Certified. I crochet animals and animated characters. I love making these because I enjoy seeing the beautiful smiles on children's faces, and if I can be that one person that can make that special person happy, it makes me happy. I do not use patterns. I create my work by looking at pictures, which makes my work very unique. They all have their own personality. I love what I do, and you can follow me on Instagram @ladyofcrafts, or on FB http://www.facebook.com/nancycritters/ Learn More
I am a long time resident of Albuquerque and volunteer at the NM Museum of Natural History. As an avid hiker and outdoorsperson, I love the vastness of the NM landscapes and its flora and fauna. My work reflects the influences of my naturalist training, the Sandia Mountain vistas from my home, the Rio Grande Bosque and techniques, such as Asian brush painting, acquired in my travels throughout the world. I have worked with stained glass for 42 years, but since my retirement in 2014 I have done fused glass exclusively. I find I can do more elaborate designs with fused glass. I specialize in Day of the Dead and Southwest patterns. I'm finally doing what I've always wanted to do and work on my art now in my retirement. Learn More
From the time I was a small child I would pick up bits of colored glass or gather bottles that had a shine or special shape. Now, in fusing glass I can express that delight I had as a young child creating fun and exciting art from everyday images. Now as a long time resident of NM, I love its shapes, textures, colors and ever-changing patterns in nature. I have learned to enjoy the nuances of place, people, relationship and interaction with self and other. As a glass artist, I am learning to enjoy the same energies that exist within myself and bring them into playful expression. This is a magical journey into the unkknown territory that I find thrilling. Learn More
I have been a rock hound since childhood and have collected many beautiful rocks and minerals over my lifetime. When I retired I took classes on how to cut and polish rocks and silversmithing and it has become a passion. I find it very exciting to see raw materials transform into a final product that can be worn as jewelry. Learn More
I grew up on the Maine coast and have always had a child's fascination for things that sparkled and glistened. The simple puddling of gasoline on the water after a lobster boat had gassed up, or a tidal pool at low tide always fascinated me. To recreate those colors I design cabochon jewels. Alcohol ink is added in layers to the backside of a flat glass marble. Each one is unique and is approximately 1 1//4in in diameter. I never know what the front will look like until the ink has dried and I can turn it over. Sealant is then applied to the bottom side, making these water-resistant. A fun addition to a garden, plant pot, window sill or even a piece of rotted wood. Learn More
I have been taking photographs in a variety of locations buy by far most have been shot in New Mexico. The majority of my works are rural settings, showing landscapes and wildlife. Urban scenes portray townscapes. My pictures incorporate my sense of imagination because it is part of the vision I want to share concerning our beautiful world. Learn More
